MUNICH, Germany (AP) – Harry Kane scored again on Wednesday as Bayern Munich beat RB Leipzig 2-0 to advance to the German Cup semifinals for the first time in six years.
Bayern have outscored Leipzig 6-0 and 5-1 in the Bundesliga this season, but this time they only got the breakthrough midway through the second half, with goals from Kane and Luis Diaz just three minutes apart.
Kane calmly converted a penalty in the 64th minute, beating goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoort in the opposite direction, scoring his sixth goal in the cup.
Díaz took advantage of Michael Olise’s through ball to double his advantage and beat Vandevoort 1–1.
Bayern have won 20 cup competitions but have not won a trophy since the 2019-20 season and have not returned to the semi-finals since then.
Defending champions Stuttgart, Bayer Leverkusen and Freiburg have already advanced to the semi-finals.
