LOS ANGELES (AP) – Canadian midfielder Steven Eustaquio has been acquired by Los Angeles FC on loan from Porto, Portugal, from Friday until June 30.
LA has the option to purchase the rights to the 29-year-old, who has scored four goals in 54 international games, including three in the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He started two games at the 2022 World Cup, Canada’s first appearance in soccer’s top tournament since 1986.
LA acquired Eustaquio’s Major League Soccer discovery priority rights from San Jose for $50,000 in 2026 general allocation money.
Eustaquio was born in Leamington, Ontario and moved to Portugal when he was seven years old. There, he played for Reychoes (2017-18) and Chaves (2018-19), before moving to Mexico’s Cruz Azul in 2019. In 2020-21, he played for Paços de Ferreira in Portugal before moving to Porto.
