Manchester City manager Josep Guardiola has insisted he will fulfill the one year left on his contract, amid rumors he could leave the English club in the summer.
Manager Guardiola signed a contract with Manchester City at the end of 2024 until June 2027, but in recent days there have been rumors that he may not be able to fulfill his contract and leave City next summer.

“I still have one year left on my contract,” Guardiola said at a press conference on Friday ahead of Sunday’s game against Liverpool, the Spaniard’s toughest opponent. Asked if he already knows what he will do in the summer, the Spaniard insisted: “The answer is the same as I said two months ago.” Two months ago Guardiola said he intended to remain at the Manchester club and see his contract through to the end.
10 years at the helm
This summer, Guardiola will celebrate 10 years in charge of Manchester City. During that time, the Catalan manager won everything, including six Premier League titles (four in a row) and the club’s first-ever Champions League title.
However, some changes are expected on the bench this summer in the wake of the World Cup in the United States. For example, while Thomas Tuchel’s contract with England is expiring and could only be renewed if he wins competitions, it is well known that Guardiola wants to manage the national team and how comfortable he is in England.
Additionally, Enzo Maresca, a coach who knows City well after serving as Guardiola’s assistant, is currently available.
A potential managerial domino effect in the summer will make City’s bench one of the most sought-after players, but for now Guardiola insists he intends to keep his contract until 2027.
