LONDON (AP) — Max Dauman He became the youngest player to appear in the Champions League. The 15-year-old has signed a pre-contractual agreement with Arsenal this season, which will secure him professional terms when he turns 17.
Arsenal announced the deal on Friday.
Dauman was 15 years and 208 days old when he came on as a substitute in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Slavia Prague in November. No 15-year-old has ever played in Europe’s top club competition.
In August, he became the second-youngest player to feature in the Premier League after Arsenal teammate Ethan Nwaneri.
England internationals Bukayo Saka and Miles Lewis-Skelly are also recent players who have come out of Arsenal’s academy.
“This really means a lot to me because I’ve been at this club my whole life,” Dauman said. “There is a very clear path here and all the players from our academy like Bukayo, Miles and Ethan really inspire me.
“It’s great to have role models so close to me who have gone through the same things as me. I’m now very excited to continue working hard towards my growth.”
Dauman, who is still attending school, is a left-footed attacking midfielder who joined Arsenal aged five in May 2015 and made his debut for Arsenal’s Under-18s aged 13. He was just 14 when Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta invited him to train with the first team.
