BERLIN (AP) — After Augsburg’s shock victory over the league leaders last weekend, Bundesliga opponents suddenly knew Bayern Munich could win.
Promoted club Hamburger SV will be the first team to test this new reality when Bayern visit on Saturday.
Like Augsburg in the past, Hamburg haven’t shown much movement to suggest they could pull off an upset. Marlin Polzin’s side have not won a game since early December after defeating Werder Bremen in the northern derby and have not scored in their last two games.
Bayern, who beat Hamburg 5-0 in the reverse match, made a record start through 18 league matches and will be hoping to reaffirm their dominance after the game. Augsburg won 2-1 It derailed their goal of finishing the season undefeated.
It was Bayern’s first loss in the league since March last year.
“What matters is our reaction to it,” said Joshua Kimmich.
