FLORENCE, Italy (AP) — Rocco Commisso’s His son Giuseppe was named Fiorentina’s successor president on Tuesday, ensuring the New York-based family continues to coach the team.
The club’s board made this decision 10 days after Rocco Commisso’s death.
Rocco’s widow Catherine Commisso has been appointed to Fiorentina’s board of directors.
“I am deeply committed to continuing my father’s legacy and the vision he created for Fiorentina,” Giuseppe said. “As my father has always done, we will continue to work with determination to strengthen the club, with the utmost respect for the club’s values, history and ties to the city and its supporters.”
Fiorentina are having a tough season. They are in the Serie A relegation zone in 18th place. The team hosts Como later on Tuesday in the Round of 16 of the Italian Cup.
