Despite giving Borussia Dortmund an early two-goal lead in the Bundesliga on Saturday, Emre Can converted a penalty just before stoppage time to give them a 3-2 victory over St. Pauli.

The Dortmund crowd cheered when the referee announced that a video review showed St. Pauli’s Ricky-Jade Jones had fouled Maximilian Baier inside the penalty area, and they celebrated when Can converted the spot-kick.

Dortmund had previously been heading for a 2-2 draw, but could extend their lead to 13 points if Bayern Munich beat Leipzig later on Saturday.

Jones and American midfielder James Sands struck first to give bottom St. Pauli hope of a valuable point in the relegation battle, canceling out goals from Dortmund’s Julian Brandt and Karim Adeyemi either side of half-time.

Hoffenheim in good form

Wouter Brugger’s bold free-kick gave Hoffenheim a 1-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, giving them momentum towards an unlikely Champions League qualification.

With Leverkusen seemingly expecting a cross, Bulger scored the only goal in the 9th minute, curling a free kick from a wide angle into the top corner.

Back-to-back losses left Leverkusen in sixth place, with doubts remaining over goalkeeper Mark Frecken, who limped off after the hour mark after nearly giving out a knee while dropping low to make a save. Hoffenheim have lost once in the Bundesliga since October.

Fisher’s Run ends

Cologne’s Ragnar Ace scored twice in a 2-1 come-from-behind victory, ending Urs Fischer’s unbeaten start as Mainz manager in his seventh game and leaving Mainz in 17th place.

Wolfsburg were looking for a win to escape the relegation zone, but Moritz Jentz’ header in the 80th minute saved Wolfsburg from a 1-1 draw.

Hamburger SV drew 0-0 with Borussia Mönchengladbach, missing a series of chances. The match was the last home game to be called off after a week of rushed repairs to repair damage caused by melting snow at Hamburg’s stadium. postponed.
