MILAN (AP) — AC Milan fought back with two goals after Adrien Rabiot won a penalty against in-form Como on Thursday to keep Serie A leaders and city rivals Inter Milan from widening their lead.
Inter had a six point lead. Milan and Naples 1-0 victory over Lecce On Wednesday, Napoli suffered a disappointing draw against Parma.
Milan’s victory reduced the gap to three points for the Rossoneri.
However, it wasn’t such a good start for Massimiliano Allegri’s side.
Como, who were sixth in Serie A, got off to a perfect start with a corner kick cut short and Marc-Oliver Kempf slotted in a lofted ball to take the lead in the 10th minute with a header.
Como had the upper hand, but Milan equalized with a penalty just before half-time when Rabiot was brought down by Kemp and Christopher Nkunku’s spot-kick wriggled under the body of Jean Butes.
Milan completely turned the game around in the 10th minute of the second half. Raphael Leão controlled a cross-field pass, cut inside and lifted the ball for Rabiot to volley into the bottom right corner.
Rabiot then sealed the match just before full-time with a fierce, low shot into the near corner after Niklas Fürkrk headed the ball back to the French midfielder.
Negative run ended
Bologna fought back against relegation-threatened Hellas Verona with a stunning goal-scoring game, ending their dismal run with a 3-2 victory.
Bologna, who had not won since November, got off to a poor start when they lost the ball inside the opponents’ penalty area and Antoine Bernade ran almost between the boxes until Gift Orbán fired home to score.
Ricardo Orsolini scored the equalizer from a smart free-kick, while Jens Odgaard and Santiago Castro scored equally impressive goals to give Bologna a 3-1 lead at half-time.
Bologna midfielder Remo Marco Freuler accidentally allowed a cross into his own net in the 71st minute.
