LONDON (AP) – Tottenham’s Cristian Romero was suspended for an additional match and fined 50,000 pounds (about $67,000) on Friday for his red card against Liverpool last month.
The Argentine defender admitted to charges of “failing to leave the field promptly and/or being confrontational and/or aggressive towards the referee” during the final stages of Spurs’ 2-1 defeat on December 20.
Romero received his second yellow card of the game after kicking out against Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate. The incident earned him an automatic one-game suspension.
