BOURNEMOUTH, England (AP) – Bournemouth’s Dutch forward Justin Kluivert has injured his left knee and will require surgery. Hit by recent injuries For a struggling Premier League club.
Bournemouth did not reveal on Tuesday the recovery timetable for Kluivert, who played in six of the Netherlands’ eight games as they progressed through their 2026 World Cup qualifying group.
Kluivert joins Bournemouth team-mates Tyler Adams, American midfielderScottish winger Ben Gannon-Doak has been ruled out for an extended period of time due to injury in the lead-up to the World Cup.
Bournemouth finished second in the Premier League this season two months ago, but have not won since then and are 15th in the 20-team table.
Kluivert, 26, made 11 appearances for the Dutch national team and returned to the team in November 2024 after a six-year absence.
The Netherlands will begin their World Cup group stage match against Japan on June 14th at Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Ronald Koeman’s side will then face the winners of the European play-offs in Houston and Tunisia in Kansas City.
