Aston Villa beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 on Saturday, bouncing back from a second defeat in two months and moving into second place in the Premier League.
Villa captain John McGinn scored twice in the second half with a long-range shot from England striker Ollie Watkins in stoppage time.
Morgan Gibbs-White’s goal reduced the deficit to 2-1 in the 61st minute, but poor goalkeeping from Forest’s John Victor meant McGinn ran outside the area to pick up the ball on goal, restoring Villa’s two-goal cushion. McGinn easily rounded Victor and smashed the ball home from 30 yards (meters) out.
Victor left the game with an injury shortly after scoring the goal.
Villa’s 11-game winning streak includes 8 league wins. Arsenal won 4-1 on tuesday.
Unai Emery’s side are ahead of Manchester City, who host Chelsea on Sunday, and are now three points behind leaders Arsenal, who later visit Bournemouth.
Brighton also host Burnley on Saturday, while West Ham visit bottom of the table Wolverhampton, who have not won in 19 games this season.
