LONDON (AP) — The London City Lionesses hired Edel Maestre as head coach on Friday, nearly two weeks after the Women’s Super League club abruptly sacked Jocelyn Precheur.
Presure led London City to promotion and sixth place in the 12-team league midway through the season, but the club’s higher-ups reportedly wanted to upgrade his style of play.
Maestre recently coached the Tenerife women’s team in Spain’s first division. The 39-year-old Spaniard spent three seasons as an assistant coach with Real Sociedad’s women’s team. He has signed a contract until the 2027-28 season.
