LEIPZIG, Germany (AP) – Former National Women’s Soccer League director Tatiana Haenyi will join Leipzig as chief executive next month, becoming one of the most high-profile female executives in European men’s soccer.

Haenni, a former Swiss international, was the NWSL’s chief sporting director from 2023 until the beginning of this year, and before that led FIFA’s efforts on women’s football and the Women’s World Cup.

Leipzig announced on Wednesday that Haeni will take over as CEO from January 1. She will manage the club, which has both men’s and women’s teams in the German Bundesliga and reached the semi-finals of the Men’s Champions League in 2020.

“I can’t wait to start in January and get to know the club on a deeper level,” Henni said in a statement. “Together, we want to continue on our already successful path and achieve our ambitious goals.”

As part of the extensive Red Bull network of clubs around the world, Haeni will work with former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. Head of World Soccer From last year.
