SEOUL, South Korea (AP) – A South Korean court announced Monday that a woman was sentenced to four years in prison for threatening soccer player Son Heung-min.
The woman, identified only as Yang, was charged with extorting 300 million won ($204,000) from Song in 2024 after sending him an ultrasound photo of an infant she claimed was hers and demanding money to keep her quiet.
She then conspired with a man named Yong to extort more money from Song.
The Seoul Central District Court said on Monday that Yang “lied” to Song, although she did not confirm whose child she was pregnant with.
According to the court, Yang denied the charges of extortion and attempted extortion. According to the court, Yong, who confessed, was sentenced to two years in prison.
Son, 33, is one of Asia’s great players. South Korean star spent 10 years with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League Joined LAFC in August.
South Korea’s Yonhap News reported in May that a woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s had died. He was detained on suspicion of trying to blackmail Mr. Song. Last June, when he was still at Tottenham.
