LOS ANGELES (AP) — Veteran French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris will remain with Los Angeles FC after agreeing to a contract extension through the 2026 season with an option for 2027.
The Major League Soccer club announced the deal on Thursday.
Lloris, 38, has made 91 appearances for LAFC since leaving Tottenham in December 2023. He has been one of the best goalkeepers in MLS since joining the league, recording 33 clean sheets across all competitions for one of the league’s top teams.
Lloris also served as LAFC’s team captain during the second half of this season, during which time they regrouped. Long-time Spurs teammate Son Heung-min. LAFC finished third in the Western Conference standings, but their season ended with a penalty shootout loss to Vancouver in the conference semifinals two weeks ago.
Lloris led France to victory in the 2018 World Cup and to runners-up in 2022. He made 145 appearances for Les Bleus, recording 63 shutouts and retired from international action in early 2023.
LAFC will have a new coach next season. Steve Celandro leavesannounced his decision to return to Germany in April last year.
