BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Barcelona midfielder Pedri González returned to the field for the first time in a month as a substitute during a match. 3-1 victory over Alaves La Liga on Saturday.
The 23-year-old Spain international was absent due to injury. Left thigh muscle tear.
While his teammates won all four La Liga games without Pedri, Barcelona missed his vision and passing skills in two Champions League games: the 3-3 draw at Club Brugge and last week’s Champions League game. Lost 3-0 to Chelsea.
Pedri came on as a substitute for Rafina against Alaves with 30 minutes remaining.
Before his latest injury, Pedri had appeared in 72 of 73 games under manager Hansi Flick.
Saturday’s match was also the first time this season that Barcelona’s starting lineup included the front three of Lamine Yamal, Roberto Lewandofusi and Rafinha. All have suffered injuries this season.
