TThe Premier League has announced that the 2026-27 season will run from Saturday 22 August 2026 to Sunday 30 May 2027, with all matches on the final day being played simultaneously as usual.
With the international calendar becoming increasingly congested, the Premier League stressed that “player welfare remains a priority”, so the competition will start a week later than usual, giving players 89 days of rest after the end of the current campaign and 33 days from the end of the 2026 World Cup.

Additionally, the season will end one week before the Champions League final, which will be held on June 5, 2027 at Madrid’s Metropolitano Stadium.
The 2026-27 season will see 33 matches played on weekends and five on weekdays, with the aim of “minimizing as much as possible conflicts with domestic competitions and the UEFA schedule”.
The Premier League has ensured that no two rounds of matches will be played within 60 hours of each other over the Christmas period, in line with clubs’ commitments to ease the traditional congestion associated with Christmas and New Year fixtures within the newly expanded international framework.
The Premier League also stressed that while only one match will be played in 2025, Boxing Day (26 December) will return to normal in 2026, with multiple matches being played on the same day.
