BARCELONA, Spain (AP) – Barcelona’s next Champions League home match will be played at the renovated Camp Nou stadium with partial capacity.
The club announced on Wednesday that it will host Eintracht Frankfurt on December 9th in a league game in European competition. Approximately 45,000 tickets will be available for this match.
Barcelona announced that UEFA had accepted the team’s request to return to Camp Nou “taking into account that all necessary requirements have been met”.
“Barcelona is delighted to be able to play matches in the stadium again and to continue to drive forward the comprehensive transformation project of the new Spotify Camp Nou,” the club said.
Barcelona announced on Monday that it would abolish the Spanish league. Match against Athletic BilbaoSaturday’s match at Camp Nou will be the first since renovations to the stadium began in June 2023 to expand the capacity of Europe’s largest football venue from 99,000 to 105,000. Only 45,401 fans will be allowed in the stadium for Athletic matches.
Clubs have now secured some of the permits they need to welcome fans back into their venues, allowing them to reopen at partial capacity.

Barcelona had originally planned to resume play at the venue as early as November 2024, to coincide with the club’s 125th anniversary, but that deadline has been repeatedly pushed back. The team has played in the city’s 55,000-seat Olympic Stadium since the start of the 2023-24 season.
Another postponement this European summer meant the club had to scramble to host a Spanish league match in September at a 6,000-seat stadium on a training ground on the outskirts of the city.
