Robinho, who played for Real Madrid from 2005 to 2008, was transferred from Tremembe, the so-called celebrity prison, to Limeira prison in the interior of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The 41-year-old former soccer player was convicted in Italy of gang rape in the Alpine country in 2013 and sentenced to nine years in prison in 2022.

The Prison Administration confirmed that the transfer to the Limeira Rehabilitation Center was carried out at the request of Robinho’s defense.
Why was Robinho transferred to another prison?
O Globo reported that at the end of October Robinho’s lawyer requested that the former Real Madrid player be transferred to another prison in Sao Paulo state, but the request was rejected.
In so doing, the court suggested that requests should be made directly to the Prison Management Secretariat.
The defense argued in its statement of claim that Robinho had no disciplinary history, maintained exemplary conduct, and was the principal offender in only one conviction. They listed three potential destinations: Bragana Paulista, Rio Claro and Limeira, and ultimately decided to move there.
Robinho asked for a reduced sentence for completing a basic electronics, radio and television course.
Robinho’s defense also asked for the former soccer player’s sentence to be reduced, arguing that he had completed a specialized training course in basic electronics, radio and television.
The request sought a reduction of 50 days, but the court denied this.
Robinho retired from football in 2020, but despite hanging up his shoes, the ball is still part of his life, and he used to play on the dirt fields of Tremembe Prison.

Robinho has been detained in São Paulo’s Dr. José Augusto César Salgado 2nd Prison (Tremembe 2nd Prison) since March 2024.
The prison, known as Brazil’s “Celebrity Prison,” houses 430 inmates in cells measuring 9 to 15 square meters and holding up to six people.

Journalist Ulises Campbell, in his book about the von Richthofen murder, revealed that Robinho prison inmates had engineered a kind of tinderbox with inmates from another camp five kilometers away.
