BERLIN (AP) – Borussia Mönchengladbach on Tuesday removed the interim tag from Eugen Polanski and named him head coach on a contract until 2028.
Polanski replaced Gerardo Seoane. He was sacked after Gladbach failed to win. Any of the first three matches of the Bundesliga season.
Gladbach showed growth under Coach Polanski, who was in charge of the U-23 team, and won three consecutive games in all competitions during the international break.
“From the very beginning, he impressed us with his qualities, both in terms of character and ability. We are confident that he can continue the positive development we have seen in recent weeks as head coach,” said Gladbach’s sporting director Ruben Schröder.
Gladbach are in 12th place in the league after 10 matches.
“I have never hidden the fact of what it means to me to be in this position at my hometown club,” said Polanski, a former Gladbach player who rose through the club’s youth ranks. “Being the head coach of Borussia is a great pleasure and fills me with pride.”
