WOLFSBURG, Germany (AP) – Wolfsburg fired coach Paul Simonis on Sunday after the team’s lackluster start to the season.

Daniel Bauer, Wolfsburg’s Under-19 team manager, will take up his post again “until further notice”, the club announced.
Bauer took over the team for the final two rounds of last season after Ralf. Hasenhüttl was fired. They are on an eight-game winless streak. Bauer recorded one win and one draw.
“We know how he works and are confident that he can begin the necessary steps for positive development with the team,” Christiansen said.
Wolfsburg’s next match after the international break will be at home against Bayer Leverkusen on November 22nd.
