Wrexham chief executive Michael Williamson revealed on Wednesday that it was a big reason Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen did not take part in the off-season.
The former Tottenham, Ajax and Inter Milan star became a free agent in July after leaving Manchester United, but did not want to film behind-the-scenes shows like Welcome to Wrexham.
Eriksen famously collapsed Then, in 2021, his heart stopped while playing for Denmark during a European Championship match in Copenhagen.

“He thought we were calling because we wanted a documentary story, not because of our soccer ability,” the CEO said. “I’m like, ‘Wait a minute. I never thought of that.’ Of course I know that, but that’s not why I called.”
Eriksen, 33, who was playing with an implanted device to monitor heart rhythm, eventually Joins German top team Wolfsburg in September after the transfer window closed.
Mr Williamson suggested that Wrexham’s own transfer business had ultimately improved after the confidential interest in Eriksen was revealed by his agent.
“It sent a signal to the player market, so to speak,” Williamson said. “That we were serious about being competitive.”
