The contract value was 197 million euros ($226 million).
The sale must be completed by November 10, by which time the stadium’s second tier (completed on that day 70 years ago) would have assumed such historical significance that it would have been nearly impossible to demolish.
The club has already announced an agreement with architecture firms Foster + Partners and Manica to design the new stadium. The venue will be part of a project covering approximately 281,000 square meters (over 3 million square feet).
