LONDON (AP) – Crystal Palace were charged by the English Football Federation on Wednesday over a provocative fan banner targeting Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.
A banner making creepy and unsubstantiated claims about Marinakis’ business career was put up at a Premier League match between Palace and Forest on August 24.
“The club is said to have failed to ensure that spectators and supporters were not behaving in an inappropriate, offensive, abusive, insulting or provocative manner,” the Football Association said.
Palace fans have accused Marinakis of fueling the recession. UEFA investigates club ownership structure As a result, the 2025 FA Cup winners were relegated to the third-tier Europa Conference League this season, while Forest were promoted to the second-tier Europa League.
Palace have been accused of misconduct and have been given until Tuesday to respond to a disciplinary inquiry.
