COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) – The Colorado Rapids parted ways with head coach Chris Armas on Monday after two seasons at the helm.
The Rapids fell short in their bid to qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs this season, finishing with 11 wins, 15 losses, and eight losses. The team has begun the process of selecting a new coach.
Throughout his time with the Rapids, Armas helped the team reach the playoffs last season and finish third in the League Cup tournament in 2024. Colorado also won back-to-back Rocky Mountain Cup titles.
“We are grateful for the professionalism and passion that Chris brings to the club,” Rapids president Padraig Smith said in a statement. “He helped our group take meaningful steps over the past two seasons and left behind a strong culture that will serve us well as we begin our next chapter.”
“I’m proud of the work we’ve done here and the progress our team has made,” Armas said. He added that the Rapids are “a special club with passionate fans, and I will always be grateful for my time in Colorado.”
