LYON, France (AP) – U.S. international Lily Johannes made a stunning long-range lob to score in OL Lyon’s 3-0 win over St. Pölten in the Women’s Champions League on Wednesday.
Jules Brand, the competition’s all-time leading scorer, and captain Ada Hegerberg also scored, completing a record eight championships.
The 18-year-old Johannes found goalkeeper Karina Schlüter off the line in the 52nd minute. Johannes fired a powerful right-footed shot from near the center circle that went over Schlüter’s head and into the net.
Brando scored the opening goal 30 minutes into the game against France. The German completed Lyon’s fluid movement by tapping in a cross from Vicky Becho.
Hegerberg headed his second goal seconds before halftime, increasing his total to 67 points.
Lyonne scored 44 goalscoring tries, compared to six for the Austrian visitors.
