MADRID (AP) — Vinícius Júnior was hit twice and scored before Kylian Mbappé was injured, and Real Madrid beat third-placed Villarreal 3-1 3-1 on Saturday to move to the top of La Liga.
After scoring in the 81st minute, Mbappe sat down and grabbed her right ankle. The French star then gestured with his hand to let him know he couldn’t continue. After a short treatment, he walked straight down the tunnel without assistance.
The victory will be two points ahead of defending champion Barcelona and will be able to regain the lead in a win at Sevilla on Sunday, but will lose Star Winger Ramin Yamal due to a pubic injury.
Vinícius was cut from the left on the 47th, and his low strike clipped Santi Comesaña’s heels before the wrong scheduled goalkeeper Arnau Tenas.
Vinícius won the net on the 69th after winning from a penalty spot on the 69th. Mbappé is the regular penalty taker in Madrid, but get him to get it. Vinicius correctly guessed the shot tamed under Tenas’s body.
Villarreal Winger Georges Mikautadze pulled back the goal with a great shot past Courtois from the 20m.
However, the effort was cancelled when defender Santiago Mourinho was sent four minutes later for the second yellow card, following a foul by Vinicius.
Villarreal then inadvertently lost the ball, and Mbappé led the 14th goal in 10 games after trading passes with Brahim Díaz.
Girona wins to put Mallorca in the end
The struggling Girona won a much-needed victory after beating Valencia 2-1 and moving from the bottom.
Girona midfielder Ivan Martin was sent off on the 80th for his second yellow card, and his teammates kept Valencia out with a 10-minute pause.
Ukrainian striker Vladislav Vanat put Zirona first from outside the penalty area. Diego Lopez was equal in the second half, but Girona regained the lead through Arnau Martinez following the set piece.
Elsewhere, Athletic Bilbao rose to fifth place in a sloppy 2-1 victory over Malorca, which continued.
Striker Inaki Williams drew a foul and quickly changed Bilbao’s penalty.
After Samu Costa was equal in the second half, midfielder Alejandro Lego’s goal recovered the lead after five minutes. Marolca’s Antonio Sanchez was sent in the final moments.
Levante cruises to victory
Levante scored in each half in a 2-0 victory at Oviedo.
Right winger Carlos Valles struck on the 30th by shooting a shot from Manu Sanchez’s cross into the upper left corner.
Oviedo brought in Santi Cazorla, a 40-year-old midfielder from former Spanish international, early in the first half. However, Cameroon striker Carl Etta Eon doubled his lead from close range following the corner. ___
