SSTUTGARD, Germany (AP) — Bilal El Kannas continued his successful lending in Stuttgart as he scored the only goal of the game, defeating Heidenheim 1-0 in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
As the rain fell, El Cannas ran in Stuttgart’s defense and dodged two challenges before scoring on a low shot from the edge of the box in the 65th minute.
Three consecutive Bundesliga victories left Stuttgart fourth in the league, leaving Heidenheim in the relegation zone.
El Cannaus scored for the second time after Morocco joined Stuttgart by lending it from Leicester last month.
Beating Heidenheim meant Stuttgart bounced off a 2-0 defeat at Basel in the Europa League on Thursday.
Hamburger SV recorded the biggest winning margin in Top Division League matches for 12 years as Rayan Phillip scored twice, beating Mainz 4-0.
Hamburg, who returned to the Bundesliga this season after being demoted in 2018, rose 2-0 against first-choice goalkeeper Robin Zentner, who is missing the Mainz team, following a red card with Borussia Dortmund last week.
Mainz’s season was a tough start. This was scheduled to compete in the conference league in sixth place last season, but only four points out last season’s six Bundesliga games.
Borussia Moench Ladbach did not win in a 0-0 draw at his home in Freiburg.
Gladbach forced his defense last week after conceding six goals against Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring points moving from the final spot of the 18-team league to Heidenheim’s 17th place. Freiburg is the eighth. Gladbach is still looking for a new coach after firing Gerardo Seoane last month.
