MILANO (AP) — Kamaldeen Sulemana helped Atalanta maintain an impressive streak for Juventus by scoring a solo goal in a 1-1 draw in Serie A on Saturday.
Slemana opened the score on a halftime stroke after Juventus turned the ball over, but Juan Cabal saved the hosts’ points to ensure his team maintains an unbeaten start of the season.
Inter had already lost two of four games in four games, but they won two bounces in a 2-0 victory at Cagliari.
Since 2018, Atalanta has not lost to Juventus, but has since had five wins and two draws.
Juventus took the lead in under two minutes, but Pierre Carl’s header came out of the correct post.
Instead, it was Atalanta who came forward during the first half stop time as Thremana attacked with a mistake and then twisted and spinned before firing into the lower right corner.
It was the second goal in many matches in Slemana (who participated from Southampton in the offseason). The 23-year-old forward celebrated with several acrobatic backflips.
Juventus levelled it in the 78th minute with a chaotic movement. Odilon Kossounou could not put the ball in the box and fell kindly to Cabal. Cabal responded quickly to control and fire from close range for his second career goal and the Colombian first since 2022.
Atalanta fouled Weston McKenney to receive his second yellow card, then quickly descended to 10 people as Marten de Rune was sent two minutes later.
It turned into a siege, but Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi managed to keep Juventus at bay, saving West range and Edon Zegrova, especially from McKenny.
Lautaro’s back
Lautaro Martínez showed he had fully recovered from his back issues when he set up an inter on the way to victory.
Argentina’s World Cup winner missed a Champions League victory at Ajax and only played 26 minutes with Sassoro last week.
However, he returned to Cagliari’s starting lineup and headed for the cross from Alessandro Bastoni in the 9th minute.
Cagliari approached levelling in 73 minutes, but Michael Folorunsho’s header crashed from the upright base.
Instead, it was when Pio Esposito doubled his lead after nine minutes when he doubled for his first Serie a goal when he excavated Federico DiMarco’s low cross into the lower right corner.
Sebasciano, the older brother of Esposito, 20, plays for Cagliari.
Intel also hits woodworking twice.
An undefeated start
Cremonese maintained an unbeaten start of the season as they saved a 1-1 draw at Como.
Visiting defender Federico Baskilotto headed to the corner in the 69th minute and canceled NicoPas’ first half opener for the hosts.
Como forward Jesus Rodriguez, who scored his side, was shown a straight red card from eight minutes for unnecessary off-ball punches and kicks at Cremonase midfielder Filippo Terraciano, discovered by video assistant referee.
