Vancouver, B.C. (AP) – Brian White scored on the 15th goal of the season in the 88th minute, with the Vancouver Whitecaps extending their unbeaten streak to seven games in a 1-1 draw against the Portland Timbers on Wednesday night.
Vancouver (16-6-8) came in second in the Western Conference standings with 56 points behind one of San Diego. The Whitecaps have already broken their team record of 53 points in the season set in 2015.
Portland (11-10-10) is in seventh place with 43 points after 1-3-3 in the last seven games.
White, who came in as a second half replacement after missing the game with a hamstring injury, deflected with a shot of Sebastian’s Belharter.
Portland defender Kamal Miller scored from around 30 yards in the first half. This was the first goal in all competitions that allowed a white cap in 325 minutes.
Former FC Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller missed his second MLS match with internal and external injuries.
