MADRID (AP) — Killian Mbappe scored twice in three minutes, while teenager Franco Mustantouno scored against Real Madrid in a 4-1 victory over Levante in the Spanish league on Tuesday, extending the club’s season victory.
Vinícius Júnior scored for Madrid as he won his sixth league victory this season.
“We played a very complete game,” said coach Xabi Alonso in Madrid. “We need to keep up this momentum, and this is just the beginning and we want to continue competing.”
Mbappé scored Madrid’s third goal after fouling Panenka Style, a 64-minute penalty kick, within the area.
France International added fourth to the 66th after passing the goalkeeper and finding an open net. The goal was Mbappé’s eighth and ninth in seven matches against Madrid this season. He also scored twice in two matches against the French national team.
Signed by River Plate in the summer, 18-year-old Mustuntuono scored a shot from within the area on the 38th. The Argentine forward got his fifth start for Madrid.
“I was waiting for this goal,” he said. “It helps me gain even more confidence within the team.”
Vinicius Jr., who was unhappy with being replaced by Alonso in his team’s previous match, advanced Madrid on the 28th with a decent strike at Far Corner. The Brazilian forward had not scored in his last three matches.
“He had a decisive performance,” Alonso said of Vinicius Jr.
Levante approached Etta Eion with a header from close range on the 54th, in its first attempt at the target.
Madrid is the only team to win all six league matches this season. He also won the Champions League opener against Marseille.
With his latest victory, Madrid’s lead scored five points over defending champion Barcelona, promoting Oviedo on Thursday. Madrid will then visit Atletico Madrid in the city derby.
Promoted to the top division this season, Levante didn’t win in his first four games, but won 4-0 for Girona in the previous round.
Madrid and Levante were wearing jerseys with their names printed on the fingerspelling alphabet to celebrate the international day of the designated language.
Win and Loss streak has been expanded
Athletic Bilbao and Girona were unable to expand their unwinning streak by managing a 1-1 or higher draw.
Mikel Jauregizar scored a 48th minute equalizer in the athletic after Azzedine Ounahi opened up a score in the nine minutes for Girona.
The Catalan club lost four straights to start the campaign, then drew two of the last three games. So far, it has been outscored 16-3.
The Athletic began with three consecutive victories, but they won three consecutive home matches against Girona. One of the losses came against Arsenal in the League phase of the Champions League.
Valencia admits late
Valencia won his third victory in four league matches when he conceded the goal late in halting time in a 2-2 draw at Espanyol.
Javi Puado recorded six minutes after spending Espanyol’s extra time.
Leandro Cabrera scored another goal for the hosts on the 59th, while Valencia rode the board on the 15th along with Arnaut Danjuma and Hugo Duro on the 62nd.
Valencia was in a 2-0 victory over the Athletics at home. Espanyol won three of his first four matches, but lost 2-0 to Real Madrid in his previous match.
Villarreal, who was third in the lead, won 2-1 at Sevilla, winning for the second consecutive time. Solomon Manor won the Villarreal on the 86th.
