PARIS (AP) – Teenage forward Ibrahim Mbey had to stay behind for a while when his Paris Saint-Germain teammate flew to Marseille for a league match on Monday.
That’s because 17-year-old Mbaye took the diploma exam for a high school known in French during the day as bacalaurate. PSG said they are traveling separately to join their 18 teammates for the 8pm kickoff at Stade Velodrome.
Mbaye made his league 1 debut at the age of 16 for six months, 23 days against Le Havre last season, becoming the youngest PSG player to start a league game. He signed his first contract in February and scored one goal for the club.
The match against Marseille was supposed to be held on Sunday, but the French football league It’s postponed Up to 24 hours for harsh weather forecasts.
Defending champion PSG has won four league games so far.
