Aston Villa ended the goal drought in the Premier League but failed to beat 10 Sunderland in a 1-1 draw on Sunday, but Newcastle was held 0-0 at Bournemouth.
Matty Cash gave Villa their first goal after five games in the league, blowing up a spinning shot from the 25m that Sunderland goalkeeper Robin Roefs was only accepted into his own net 67th.
However, Sunderland has played with 10 men from 33 minutes after a cash kickout for Reinildo’s Red Card, but managed to pass Wilson Izidor on the 75th and leave the villa at the third place without a victory.
Newcastle spins the team Champions League defeat to Barcelona On Thursday, they struggled to create many clear opportunities at Vitality Stadium against the Bournemouth team in search of fourth straight wins.
Arsenal will then host Manchester City and are likely to compete for the title in a meeting between the teams. Arsenal is trying to cut the gap to first-placed Liverpool to three points, but City have lost two games so far.
