KANSAS CITY, Kansas (AP) — Edie Ocampo scored two minutes after the match, Kenji Cabrera scored his first goal in his third appearance, and Yohai Takaoka needed only one of the 13th clean sheets of the season with the Vancouver White Caps.
Vancouver (16-6-7) took two games and pulled within two points to San Diego FC’s number one spot in the Western Conference.
The white cap jumped forward when rookie defender Ocampo scored his second goal. Rookie forward Emmanuel Sabi notched his third assist with Netter.
The 22-year-old midfielder Cabrera took a pass from Ali Ahmed in the 43rd minute of his first start, taking a 2-0 lead in the half. Ahmed’s assist was seventh in the season. He made one assist in his first 46 appearances.
John Pulskamp stopped two shots with a goal from Sport KC (7-18-6).
Sports KC travels to play the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday. Whitecaps travels to play Seattle Sounders on Saturday.
