Wolverhampton, UK (AP) — Portuguese coach Vitor Pereira has signed a new three-year contract with Premier League team Wolverhampton.
The club announced their contract late Thursday, showing their faith in Pereira despite being in the final place in the Premier League, where the Wolves have lost all four games this season.
Pereira joined the wolves in December when the team was in the next location in the league, ensuring its survival by April on a lucrative top flight.
The Wolves lost key players in the offseasons like Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri, and said the club is “focused on improving the difficult start of the 2025/26 season.”
“It’s time to be stable,” said Wolf Chairman Jeff Sea. “Vitor needs time to work with his team and build new players and chemistry. We’ll do everything to support him and his staff.”
Pereira reiterated his belief that wolves need to “strapped” after the tough start of the campaign.
“This is the spirit we need to create together, to play and compete against the best teams in this league,” he said.
