SSTUTGARD, Germany (AP) — Elmedyn Demirovic visited St Pauli 2-0 on Friday to mark the Bundesliga superstart for the Hamburg club and celebrate his first match as Stuttgart captain in scoring.
The striker had a header that ruled out offsides in four minutes, but got what was counted just before halftime.
Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller saved a penalty kick 26 minutes later by Nicola Vasilgi, but he fixed it for five minutes into the second half with a nice layoff where Viral El Kannaz added a second.
The most recent signature from Leicester City ran to Stiller’s cushioned pass and fired a low shot into the bottom corner.
St. Pauli’s Louis Ocky hit the bar a few seconds later on the other end.
Stuttgart moves to seventh place with six points from four games.
The end of St. Pauli’s unbeaten start left the above points in the fourth at the end of his start to the league.
