Charlotte, N.C. (AP) – Idan Tochromatie recorded his first career hat trick, Kristijan Kahlina made three big saves With the 10th clean sheet of the season, Charlotte beat Intermiami 3-0 on Saturday night to earn his ninth regular season victory.
Charlotte (17-11-2) tied Seattle’s 2018 MLS record with consecutive single-season victories except during his shootout days.
Miami (13-6-7), who played his first regular-season game since August 23, had no stopping striker Luis Suarez.
Kalina denied Lionel Messi’s Panenka attempt at 32nd, and Tochromati began scoring two minutes later.
Toklomati added another one in a redirect on the 47th, following Brandt Bronico’s Nice Centering Pass.
After Miami fell to the 10-men on the 79th, following Thomas Aville’s second yellow card, Tochromati changed the penalty kick five minutes later with the 11th goal of the season.
Toklomati joined Andy Williams (1998) as the sole player in MLS history under the age of 21, generating goal contributions in seven straight games. Toklomati Aslo joined Daniel Ríos from 2022 and became Charlotte’s second player in history to create a regular season hat trick.
Charlotte’s head coach Dean Smith was watching for a stop (yellow card) from the Bank of America stadium stands.
