BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Barcelona coach Hansiflik is unhappy with the Spanish national team about how to handle Ramin Yamal during an international break after the teenage forward was removed from Sunday’s Spanish league match against Valencia.
Barcelona said on Saturday that Yamal will miss the game due to “discomfort in the pubic region,” and that he cannot even train at this point.
Flick told reporters he was angry with Spain for playing Yamal after thinking it was unnecessary minutes during his big wins in two World Cup qualifiers last week. Flick accused Spain of knowing Yamal felt uncomfortable and played him anyway.
“They gave him painkillers so he could play,” Flick said. “During a game he couldn’t train. It doesn’t take care of the players. I’m very sad about this.”
Yamal played 79th minute in a 3-0 victory in Bulgaria and another 73th minute in a 6-0 victory in Turkey.
The federal stated in response to Flick’s statement that he had never received a notification from Barcelona that Yamal was injured and that national team health workers are communicating frequently with the club.
