MANSHETER, England (AP) — Manchester City says striker Omar Marmash will miss Sunday’s Premier League match against Manchester United after hurting his knee in international duties with Egypt.
Marmash Injured The early days of his country’s World Cup qualifying game against Burkina Faso on Tuesday.
“The initial results of the scans run in Egypt show that he is not available for the Manchester Derby on Sunday, and he will return to Manchester to make more evaluations and begin his rehabilitation,” Manchester City said in a statement. “Everyone in the City wants Omar to recover quickly.”
The 26-year-old forward has joined City’s long list of injuries, among the few players John Stones and Phil Foden missed the international game.
City didn’t specify how quickly Marmash would return. City will launch its Champions League campaign against Napoli on September 18th.
The Egyptian game was 0-0 draw, That means Egypt will have to wait to see its location at next year’s World Cup.
