OSLO (AP) — Erling Haaland is “doing well” after demanding stitching for an amputation of his face in a strange incident in international duties with Norway, team captain Martin Ødegaard said Monday.
Manchester City stars I posted a photo on Snapchat On Sunday, he reportedly suffered when he hit the door of his luggage when he got off a Norwegian team bus before entering the hotel.
“I didn’t see it, but I heard he put a door in his face,” Norwegian Daily Dagbradet said at a press conference in Norwegian World Cup qualifying against Moldova in Oslo on Tuesday.
“It didn’t sound good, but he appears to be doing well. He has a small cut on his face, but the rest is fine.”
Haaland wrote in his Snapchat post:
In another Snapchat post, 24-year-old Haaland wrote along with a photo of himself taking a selfie showing the wound under his lips.
Norwegian director Ståle Solbakken said “it could have actually gone badly there” in connection with the incident involving Haaland.
Solbakken added that Tuesday’s match had no risk of losing Haaland.
Norway has won all four of its World Cup qualifying games in Group I, including Italy and Israel. Norway has 12 points, three more than Israel and six more than Italy.
Man City faces a big match right after an international break and will fierce local rival Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday at home.
