MADRID (AP) – Memphis Depey became the Dutch’s complete top scorer with two goals in a 3-2 victory in Lithuania in Sunday’s World Cup qualifiers.
According to FIFA, DePay scored 51st and 52nd goals in the Netherlands, surpassing the 50 scored by Robin Van Persy.
Dipay, 31, scored the opening goal of the match at Kaunas on the 11th and the winner on the 63rd.
The Netherlands are the top team in Group G, with 10 points from four matches.
Poland defeated Finland 3-1 at home along with Robert Lewandowsky among the host scorers. Poland, where he played five games, also has 10 points. Finland, third place, has seven points.
Spain Route Türkiye
Mikel Merino scored a hat-trick and Pedri added a brace as Spain routed Turkey 6-0 to lead Group E with six points in two matches.
Ferran Torres scored for the European champions defending away wins.
Second place Georgia beat Bulgaria 3-0, while Spain trailed with three points.
Spain will host Georgia next month.
Germany wins
Germany won their first Group A victory in Northern Ireland thanks to late goals from Nadiem Amiri and Florian Whartz.
Germany, which lost 2-0 in Slovakia, held Luxembourg in Sinsheim on October 10th.
Also on Sunday, Slovakia beat Luxembourg 1-0, leading the group with six points.
Belgium thrives
Kevin de Bruin and Jeremy Doc scored their respective goals as Belgium moved to second place in Group J with a 6-0 victory over Kazakhstan in Brussels.
Belgium scored 10 points from four games, one point less than North Macedonia, and routed Liechtenstein 5-0 at Skopje. North Macedonia remains unbeaten in the group after five matches. Three wins and two draws.
Winners from a group of 12 from Europe will automatically qualify for the 2026 World Cup in North America. Another four teams advance from the group runner-up playoffs.
