Togethxr, a company founded by athletes Alex Morgan, Sue Bird, Simone Manuel and Chloe Kim, has announced a partnership that places the slogan “Everyone sees women’s sports” on the jerseys of the London city of Lioness.
London City has been playing in the British Women’s Super League this season. The team’s opening match is set at Arsenal on Saturday.
Michelecan, owner of the Washington Spirit of the National Women’s Football League and Lyon of the Top French League, purchased the Lioness in 2023. London City is the only WSL team that is not part of a Premier League club.
“London City Lioness was established to rethink women’s soccer. To be bold, independent and advance women’s soccer,” Kang said in a statement Wednesday. “The partnership with TogethXR reflects the same goals and we can do it at a pace! Watching “Everyone sees women’s sports” in the kit is a powerful statement and we look forward to starting an influential conversation that advances women’s sports. ”
The “Everyone Sees Women’s Sports” T-shirt was first released in 2023 and quickly gained popularity. Celebrities and athletes such as actor Jason Sudekis and Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry are wearing shirts.
Earlier this year, TogethXR announced that products featuring the slogans generated $6 million in revenue for media and commerce companies.
The company has not paid to place a saying on the jersey, as TogethXR’s agreement with Lioness is called a partnership, in contrast to the sponsor. TogethXR also has partnerships with the WNBA and NWSL.
“We are working together to reaffirm that the future of women’s sports is here,” Morgan said in the announcement. “It’s global and inevitable. The lioness in London City was born to disrupt football, and Togscus was born to disrupt sports media.”
