MARSEILLE, France (AP) — Marseille pulled out the biggest move on the deadline in League One by signing Intermilan’s 2018 World Cup winner Benjamin Prabbad on Monday.
Marseille said the French defender was on loan and the deal includes purchase options. According to the L’Equipe newspaper, it is set at 15 million euros ($17.5 million).
Pavad, 29, has been playing for Italy since 2023. He returned to the French league for the first time since leaving Lille in 2016. Pavad then spent three seasons at Stuttgart, winning multiple titles in four seasons against Bayern Munich.
Pavard became his fourth World Cup winner in 2018 and joined the French league this summer, following Olivieriroux (Lille), Paul Pogba (Monaco) and Florian Taubin (Lens).
Marseille also searched for defensive reinforcements and confirmed the arrival of Italian international Emerson Palmieri from West Ham.
