LONDON (AP) – Chelsea have signed with Manchester United’s Argentina International Alejandro Garnacho for £40 million ($54 million) reported Saturday, adding more competition for the two winger spots.
Garnacho, 21, left United after losing his favor with manager Reuben Amorim at the end of last season. His final match with the club was not even on the bench for United’s match this season, as he was a second-half replacement when he lost 1-0 to Tottenham in the Europa League final.
Garnacho will compete against Pedroneto, Jamie Gittens and Estebao on teams that won the Club World Cup in the summer and will play in the Champions League this season. Chelsea also has Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk in the book.
“It’s an incredible moment for my family and I to join this amazing club,” Garnacho said. “I can’t wait to get started.
“It’s special to see the Club World Cup and be a part of the World Championship. We are the best team in the world! It’s amazing and I’m so happy to be here.”
Garnacho sales also help United adhere to the rules of Premier League profits and sustainability.
