Dortmund, Germany (AP) — Borussia Dortmund has signed Kearney Chukwemeka permanently from Chelsea.
Bundesliga Club said Tuesday that 21-year-old Chukwuemeka, who played on loan at Dortmund late last season, signed the contract until June 2030.
According to Kicker Magazine, Dortmund said it was paying Chelsea about 25 million euros ($29 million) to UK Youth International.
“It was important to once again increase our quality and creativity by attacking the midfield,” said Lars Ricken, Managing Director at Dortmund. “We are pleased to sign exciting talent like Carney in a long-term deal and help him develop.”
Chukwuemeka was able to face Union Berlin in the Bundesliga on Sunday. He also made his Bundesliga debut against Union in February, when Dortmund won 6-0. He made only 10 appearances in the Dortmund league due to muscular issues.
Dortmund is also reportedly negotiating a contract with Chelsea for Argentine defender Aaron Anselmino.
Dortmund previously announced Nico Kobache has extended the contract As a coach.
