FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Luis Suarez scored twice on a penalty kick, and Intermiami overcomes Lionel Messi’s absence by beating Mexico’s Tigress Wuan 2-1 in the League Cup quarterfinals on Wednesday night.
After winning his team over the LA Galaxy, Messi did not train before the game on Wednesday.
Suarez changed his first penalty after Jordi Alba’s cross hit the arm of sliding Tigress defender Javier Aquino. Anchel Correa scored for Tiguru and sliced the equalizer defense. The ball then slammed Aquino’s arm in the box again, and Suarez scored the winner from the penalty spot.
