ISTANBUL, Turkey (AP) – Jose Mourinho is one time away from returning Fenerbafs to the Champions League for the first time in 17 years.
The team of celebrity coaches surged into the Champions League qualifying playoffs by overturning a two-goal deficit on Tuesday in a 5-2 victory with Fayenod coached by Robin Van Persy.
Fenerbahce advances 6-4 on the overall score and then faces Benfica – Mourinho got his first head coaching job 25 years ago – at risk in the league stage of 36 teams.
