ISTANBUL, Turkey (AP) – Jose Mourinho is one time away from returning Fenerbafs to the Champions League for the first time in 17 years.

The team of celebrity coaches surged into the Champions League qualifying playoffs by overturning a two-goal deficit on Tuesday in a 5-2 victory with Fayenod coached by Robin Van Persy.

Fenerbahce advances 6-4 on the overall score and then faces Benfica – Mourinho got his first head coaching job 25 years ago – at risk in the league stage of 36 teams.

The first leg will be in Istanbul next Wednesday, and he will return with Lisbon’s Light of Light on August 27th, with Mourinho, the future two-time Champions League winner, lasting less than three months in 2000.

Benfica moved forward on Tuesday after beating Nice 2-0 at home after winning his first leg with the same score in France last week.

Fenelverse last played in the old group stage of the Champions League in the 2008-09 season, with its biggest rival, Galatasaray, already appearing as the Turkish League champion in the main draw on August 28th.

Fenerbafe lost 2-1 in the Netherlands last week, falling even further behind in the second round of his third qualifying round collision.

Mourinho saw his players gather quickly with two goals before halftime – second by the Columbia forward John Duranan in-season loan from Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr. Former Manchester United midfielder Fred paddled the lead early in the second half, and scored last season by Talisca, another teammate of Al Nasr’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Rangers advanced to the playoffs 4-2 in a consolidation with Victoria Pulsen despite a 2-1 defeat in the Czech Republic on Tuesday.

The Scottish club will host its first playoff war next week with Club Bruges. Club Bruges scored three goals in a 3-2 comeback in Salzburg on Tuesday, totaling 4-2.

Salzburg played for FIFA Club World Cup It’s only six weeks ago, but he’s unlikely to play in the next 2029, making him missed out on Champions League play for the first time in seven seasons.

Cyprus champion Paphos, owned by Russia, defeated Ukrainian Dynamo Kiev 2-0, moving on to 3-0 in total. Paphos will then face Red Star Belgrade, the winner of the 1991 European Cup. This defeated Lech Poznan 4-2, 4-2, in total, after a 1-1 draw in Serbia on Tuesday.

Copenhagen defeated nearby Marmo 5-0, a week after a scoreless draw on the other side of Oresund Bridge, which connects Denmark and Sweden. Copenhagen’s reward is a two-legged playoff against Swiss champion Basel.

Azerbaijan’s Qarabag routed North Macedonian champion Shkendija 5-1 on Tuesday to win the playoffs against Ferencvaros, the 3-0 winner against Bulgarian Ludogorets at Budapest.

Kazakhstan’s Kairat Almaty won a penalty shootout at Slovan Bratislava after the team was tied 1-1 in the tally, heading over the next four time zones to Scotland and moving to Scotland for the first playoff game against Celtic.
