Frankfurt, Germany (AP) — The Bundesliga game will take some time this season as Germany will take part in a drive to calculate additional time more accurately.
Germany’s top men’s league is the latest following trends set by the 2022 World Cup and the English Premier League. Measure accurate times on events such as red cards, penalties, injuries and add that amount to the end of each half.
In a comment reported by the German agency DPA, Knut Kircher, managing director of sports and communications for German umpire organizations, said:
The new Bundesliga season begins on August 22nd, but the changes are already in effect in the second and third tiers of men. There was backlash against some decisions.
