MADRID (AP) – Atletico Madrid has signed the Italian International Giacomo La Spadori in Naples.

The 25-year-old forward passed his medical care and signed a five-year contract with the Spanish team.

“The Italian players are versatile footballers who can play in all offensive positions and behind the striker,” Atletico said Monday. No financial details are given.

Ruspadri signed with Napoli in 2022, winning the Serie A title with the club in their first season and 2024-25. He played 109 games against Napoli and scored 18 goals.

He made his senior debut in Italy at the age of 21 in 2021, playing in the European Championships. Italy won. He was a 40-time contestant for Italy and appeared with nine goals and six assists.

Atletico revamped the team for the season, bringing in players like Alex Baena, Johnny Cardoso, Thiago Armada, Matteo Laggeri, Mark Paville and David Hanco.

Diego Simeone’s team finished third in the Spanish league last season with Real Madrid and champion Barcelona. Atletico will launch its league campaign in Espanyol on Sunday.
