Crystal Palace was upset by lifting the community shield on Sunday by beating Premier League champion Liverpool.

rear Amazing Manchester City in the FA Cup final in MayPalace again went against the odds – winning a penalty shootout 3-2 after the game ended in a 2-2 draw.

“It’s incredible to beat Liverpool. They’re here, they’re favorites, they have incredible players, they’re a good team,” Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson said. “But we won two trophies in three months at this club. That’s an incredible moment in our history.”

Henderson saved two penalties and Mohamed Sara was fired on Liverpool’s first spot kick. Palace substitute Justin Devenny transformed the winning penalty by blowing up high into the corner and causing a big celebration.

The FA Cup victory marked the Palace’s first major trophy in its history, but soon followed by a community shield in the new season of curtain laning games on England’s top flights.

“Big Performance”

Oliver Glasner’s team had to come from behind twice after New Liverpool’s signatures Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong were both on the score sheet. Jean-Philippe Mateta and Ismaila Saal hit for the palace.

“It was a big performance. We were on the same level as Liverpool. I’m really proud of the team and how they played,” Palace coach Glasner said.

ekitike – $93.5 million signature from Eintracht Frankfurt – Liverpool made an easy impression with his first goal coming in four minutes. France showed the forward, then turned on the edge of the box and wiped out the low shots in the far corner.

The palace returned on the 17th at level from the penalty spot.

Sarl was fouled by Virgil van Dik and Mateta sent Liverpool keeper Allison the wrong way with his spot kick.

Frimpong restored Liverpool’s lead courtesy of the seemingly unusual goal on the 21st.

The defender carrying the ball to the right tried to lift the cross to the far post and saw the ball spinning violently over Henderson’s head and line.

Sarr leveled the game again on the 77th, beating Allison through the inside of the post with a strong finish from close range. It was his fourth goal in seven games against Liverpool.

Directly to penalty

Without extra time, the game straightened to a penalty and Sara lifted his efforts over the bar to drive Liverpool to the worst start. Henderson then saved more spotkicks from Alexis Mac Alistair and Harvey Elliott.

However, the shootout came down to a final penalty when Ebebeki Eze hits a shot of him saved by Alison and Borna Sosa into the bar.
